The Athenian jury convicts Socrates of defiling the young. They feel that Socrates has prevented the young from having an independent perspective. This is conflicting with the laws of the city. Socrates keeps up his guiltlessness for some reasons. One explanation is Socrates didn't consider passing to be a terrible thing. He understood that he would pass on some time or another at any rate, so he didn't fear it. He likewise accepts that the individuals that condemned him will experience the ill effects of his demise, just as the town and understudies. Lindo, her mother, responds with, â€Å"How can think she can blend in? Only her skin and her hair are Chinese. Inside – she is all American-made.† For instance, my parents and siblings were born in Monterrey, Mexico, spending a chunk of their lives there. Domestic Violence Essay Thesis Example For Students

Domestic Violence Essay Thesis ?Why ask women when they only need to be told? Why ask women when they hope to be taken?feelings, moods, and attitudes rule a woman, not facts, reason or logic? The acquisition of knowledge or responsibility does not lessen womens need for support, guidance, and control. Quite the contrary.?This attitude justifies the so-called need for men to correct their wives misbehaviour. It perpetuates the idea that women must need a man who can guide, protect and provide for them. These perceptions have been notable throughout history (Re: the rule of thumb) and it has only been in the last few decades in North America where women have been more given rights and freedoms. Yet, physical abuse still exists. The women stay and the men continue their cycle of violence while society quietly waits for the last tragic blow. Domestic violence occurs all over the world. Canada is not immune to this social problem that plagues many developing countries. In the past few months there have been numerous cases of domestic violence leading to murder and suicide in Southern Ontario. The media has shone light on this once private matter and revealed that the problem still exists. Violence against women by their spouses is a life-threatening situation that is not treated seriously by the legal system or by society in general. It often takes a tragedy for corrective action to be taken and stricter laws to be made. On July 24, 2000 an article appeared in the Toronto Star entitled, ?Victim of Acid Attack had been Abducted.? A 27-year-old woman was abducted for several hours one week before her boyfriend (and childs father) splashed her with sulphuric acid in her Scarbourough home and she didnt report the incident to police. Police said the acid burned the womans face and 80 per cent of her body after it ate through her clothes. Nigel Carrington, has been charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, assault, dangerous driving, theft and mischief. In the wake of recent cases of domestic violence that have ended in deaths, McQueen ( a Toronto police officer) made an appeal for the public to be ?vigilant? in reporting incidents at their early stages. ?This case capped it off for me,? McQueen said. ?Here I am finding out about a kidnapping, previous assaults and other things And when do I find out about it? On the day she almost loses her life.?Some women do leave their abusive relationships. Battered women are not always passive victims who merely accept the abuse. They want to stop the violence and protect their children. Sometimes battered women deny or minimize the abuse as a coping strategy to reduce the psychological impact of the abuse. The fact that a battered woman may not leave may reflect the fact that our society has not provided sufficient supports for the victims of violence to be able to leave. A woman often stays because she hopes that her partner will change, and that the battering will stop. When the abuse continues she may well try to leave or get help. She may be threatened with even more violence if she leaves and she knows that her partner is capable of carrying out those threats. Many batterers threaten to get a court order for custody of the children if she leaves. There are many obstacles that a woman faces if she tries to leave. There is a lack of support and practical help (family and friends dont support her or are afraid to get involved) and a lack of information (she becomes isolated and unaware of her options). There is also limited protection options (the justice system cannot guarantee protection for women, and court protection orders are frequently broken). For many battered women, the choice is to stay with the abuser and try to avoid being battered, or to leave and face a life of poverty and uncertainty for herself and her children. There are other reasons why women choose to stay such as: fear of not being believed, feels as if she has created the problem and that she is the one who should change her behaviour. She is unable to escape her abusers control (including finances) and does not have another source of income. .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0 , .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0 .postImageUrl , .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0 , .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0:hover , .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0:visited , .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0:active { border:0!important; } .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0:active , .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0 .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u464cac8c6b603783e57d7384deedcbc0:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Hate crimes Essay She may lack educational qualifications and/or employment skills and has grown up watching her mother being abused. She may also believe that religious faith and doctrine (rules against divorce) prevent her from leaving. She is depressed and constantly under high stress, has lowered self-esteem, and feels powerless and lacking in control over her life. Another reason is that she needs to be loved and feels that if she leaves she wont be able to find a better man. All of the aforementioned factors contribute to a womans decision to say or leave an abusive relationship.A man who is a batterer must feel dominant in the relationship and in order to gain this dominance he has to exert verbal, physical, emotional, environmental and social abuse to remain in control. There are many theories about the psychological causes of battering, ranging from alcohol abuse, stress, poor anger management, and an abusive childhood. However, social conditions encourage violence against women: such conditions include traditional sex roles that teach men to dominate, and women to submit. Another social condition that promotes battering is our societys use of hierarchies, with the belief that every group, family or relationship should have one person in charge, and that person has the right to use force to ensure their power and control over others. Abusers usually have the following personality characteristics: they were abused as children, feel insecure, have poor verbal communication, need to dominate, dual personality, lack of assertiveness, adherence to traditional sex-role model, dependency needs, and contradictory traits. Abuse may be correlated with the following factors but it is not caused by the use of alcohol or other drugs, anger, stress, something the woman said or did, or relationship problems. The three main reasons why men abuse their wives are because: they choose to, it works and they get away with it. If there are no negative consequences such as police arresting and filing charges, and then the message is that violence is acceptable. Abusers have learned to be abusive by watching others in the family and society; abusers have found that it is an effective way of establishing or regaining control. Society must help to stop domestic violence. The cycle of violence perpetuates with every generation causing one to believe that domestic abuse has been around since time immemorial. The government must ensure the safety and protection of assaulted women and their children. The community should support women who want to leave abusive relationships. Money should be put into outreach programs, shelters, legal aid, victim advocacy, diversion projects, and counselling to help the victims of domestic violence. However, the real problem lies with how society is raising its boys and girls. Society has to rethink its attitude toward women and teach children what is acceptable behaviour and what is not. Little boys cannot be taught that it is alright for them to hit another person and girls must be taught with confidence to refuse to be treated in that manner. If education is not of paramount importance to society to prevent future domestic violence then hospitals and courtrooms will continue to be inundated with cases of abuse. After all, the rule of thumb was not too long ago the norm.

Strategic Purchasing free essay sample

Sustainable business growth and practices are taking a forward leap in to the globe. Almost every business now is planning to have a value chain through out their business. Strategic Purchasing is the key element to a sustainable growth of the business along the competitive edge. This study shows the importance of the Kraljic portfolio model that is to be put in to the actual usage, which would yield benefits of purchasing sophistication in terms of positioning and professionalism. Results showed that both positioning and professionalism are positively related to the greater usage of the model. Based on the analysis of a Dutch chemical company, the immense use of the portfolio model has been described and explored in strategic purchasing. The results have proved that when the model is tailored and elaborated it brings about an effective guidance in purchasing and supplier strategies. The case study also lists out the supplier strategies that are feasible. We will write a custom essay sample on Strategic Purchasing or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Thus it supports the fact by using the kraljic model that purchasing function does play a vital role and enable organizations to gain competitive advantage The Initial objective of strategic purchasing to procure materials amp; equipment’s, from the right origin, with the right quantity and of the right quality, through right time and cost (peter 1993). Strategic purchasing does play a vital role in an organization. To have a successful business venture purchasing has to be the core element responsible for a product’s quality, acceptability, price and reliability. Procurement system solely depends on the choice of suppliers, to ensure the delivery under any circumstances (John, Marton 2006). In few cases, DSM is locked in the partnering relationship due to necessity, might be cause of situations like monopolistic market. The only solution to this would be finding alternative suppliers through proper new development of suppliers. This solution will not be obtainable when the scenario is due to patents, another situation would be when the supplier does not want to involve really in co – development (Van Weele 2006). There is more likely for the partnership to change into the indolent and chances of being more relaxed in the relationship. Strategic partners should always be a supplier of world class. World-class suppliers are high performing, alert at all times and technically sound through sense of economy. This clearly depicts that strategic patterns will meet the benchmark externally with more satisfactory performance of price (Van Weele 2006). Decomplexing strategy and supplier development (2) must be pursed when the situation turns vice versa, that is when the partnerships show under achieving performance or patterns. Less complexity products when made, leads to alternative solutions within reach. Effectively, DSM wants itself always to be less dependent on non dependable and under achieving suppliers (Van Weele 2006). Importance of kraljic portfolio model is clearly understood when it is actually put into use and customizing of the same would enhance the solving capability of the strategic issues that are at hand. The portfolio model provides guidelines for a better supplier and purchasing strategies. This case study clearly suggests us the importance of placing commodities at different quadrants of the matrix to help in development of the purchasing strategies (Van Weele 2006).

Cold Virus Strain Linked To Childhood Obesity

Cold Virus Strain Linked To Childhood Obesity Medical experts have carried out studies on the causes of obesity in children and their results indicate that exposure to a cold virus causes more children to be overweight. The virus is called adenovirus 36 (AD36) and it manifests itself through frequent colds and bowel difficulties.Advertising We will write a custom critical writing sample on Cold Virus Strain Linked To Childhood Obesity specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More According to Philips (2010), children who are exposed to the viral cold are said to have high chances of adding more weight than the other children who had never suffered from this illness. Other studies indicate that animals that were injected with the same virus became obese thus the effects of this virus are similar in both humans and animals. The above argument is inductive in nature because the generalized conclusion arises from specific experiments. Researchers considered a certain number of children and then t ested for AD36 with the aim of coming up with the conclusion. This shows some truth about the argument but does not entirely support the conclusion. While the above argument may be true AD36 is not the only cause of obesity because there are other factors that contribute to obesity such as genes and eating habits (Dhurandhar, 2007). There are children who inherit obesity genes from there parents. This means that even if these children eat very little food they will still be obese. However, there are children who are obese because they eat more food. Most mothers assume that the best thing they can do to their child is feed him/her frequently. What most parents don’t understand is that the child is not active and hence the excess food that he or she consumes is converted into fat because it’s not needed by the body and since the baby is still inactive the excess fat in its body can not be burned. This is because they don’t use much energy (Kiess et al., 2004). Ca ses of obesity have increased more than double compared to previous decades because the kind of food that is fed to the children comprises of chemicals that were initially fed to the farm animals to induce their appetite to make them mature faster. Perhaps the residues of these chemicals are not fully exhausted by the time we consume the meat and vegetables hence they continue to react within our bodies and when we are making babies we pass the same compounds to our children (Augustus et al., 2005). Nowadays everything has changed because children are not allowed to play that much because technology has made things easier by introducing computer games which keeps children indoors (Atkinson, 2007). When a child has grown enough to be able to attend school they rarely walk because they travel by school transport even when they are covering a short distance. Additionally most parents give their children a lot of junk food instead of a balanced diet.Advertising Looking for criti cal writing on health medicine? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Therefore, parents should allow their children to be active because that’s the only way excess fat can be burnt other wise if these children don’t regulate their weight their expected lifespan will reduce because they are prone to diseases that are associated with obesity such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart attacks. This is because the excess body fat places itself on the walls of blood veins and thus the pressure of blood flow increases. In the previous decades such illnesses were unheard of among children but the sudden change in lifestyle has rendered most children prone to these diseases. Children should be encouraged to play more outdoor games than just watching television and playing computer games because idling does not only contribute to obesity but it also makes them to be less creative. Frozen yogurt Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Frozen yogurt - Essay Example It has limited flavor as such it does not appeal to the taste-buds. Another brand of yogurt that I tried was Scream frozen yogurt. There is nothing to scream about it, its design is cute, easy to find and park (as such no wastage of time), but its main drawback is that it is not organic. Topping selection is also limited. As for Bango Frozen yogurt, it has low calories, and the free wifi service in an inconvenient location will not serve my purpose apart from the important disadvantage that the yogurt is not tasty. Frozen yogurt is my food. I am willing to skip my dinner and eat yogurt to my heart’s content. It is nutritious and easy to digest and it helps to keep my body fit and fine. With the addition of artificial flavors, the original flavor of yogurt is lost. As such, I like flavor-free yogurt. The original sweet-sour flavor of yogurt appeals to me. I like frozen yogurt for its quality and appearance. Majority of my friends like frozen yogurt and I would like to go by their choice. We friends go for social gatherings and after the school hours we reach out to Panda Yo outlet to enjoy eating yogurt. Eating it in the company of the classmates/friends, gives great satisfaction. Even though I like natural yogurt normally, I often choose some mild flavors and of them I like strawberry the best. But I make it a point to experiment with different flavors, when I decide to go for flavored

Catherines wedding Essay Example for Free

Catherines wedding Essay In act two of the play the family has really broken apart. Beatrice and Eddie barely speak and Catherine and Rodolfo have their first argument. They argue because what Eddie said to Catherine about Rodolfo using her for a passport has really made her think, now that she knows one day they will get married, she asks him if he would live with her in Italy instead of in America. He says, No. I will not marry you to live in Italy. This upsets Catherine, but it infuriates Rodolfo. This part in the passage shows how their relationship is strong, because they make up quickly and she realises he loves her for her not just her papers. The night that Eddie returns home drunk and orders Rodolfo out his house shows just how jealous Eddie really is. Catherine says how she is leaving as well if he leaves but Eddie says to Rodolfo, Get outa here. Alone. You hear me? Alone. Catherine tries to stand up to Eddie, she says how she isnt a baby anymore, but he cuts her off mid-sentence and grabs her, and kisses her, I think he kissed her because he is drunk and he cant control his feelings anymore, but then when he gets her reaction he isnt happy. He thought she might feel the same way but she obviously doesnt. He realises he shouldnt have one it. Then Rodolfo shouts at Eddie to let go of her, Eddie asks if he wants something and Rodolfo bursts out, Yes! Shell be my wife. That is what I want. My wife. Eddie winds up Rodolfo and Rodolfo tries to defend Catherine, he tries to attack Eddie but Eddie is much stronger than him. In attempt to cover up his kiss with Catherine Eddie gets Rodolfo and he, pins his arms, laughing, and suddenly kisses him. This is embarrassing for Rodolfo because it shows how weak he is and its also embarrassing for Catherine because she has to break them up, proving she is stronger than Rodolfo. This however makes Catherine and Rodolfos relationship even stronger because now they are going to get married and Catherine knows Rodolfo will try to defend her in a fight. Eddie goes to see Alfieri for the second time, he tells him about the kiss and says he did it to try and prove Rodolfo was gay. Alfieri says that there is nothing he can do to help Eddie unless he wants him to call immigration and report the two immigrants. Alfieri gives him a second piece of advice, he says, Even those who understand you will turn against you, even the ones who feel the same will despise you. He is warning Eddie not to do anything, not to report Marco and Rodolfo and also not to do anything with Catherine. Leave them both alone. But Eddie doesnt listen to Alfieri; he goes to the phone box outside his house, and calls up immigration. When he gets home Rodolfo and Marco have moved out, into a flat upstairs with two new immigrants. Eddie now panics, one of the immigrants is Liparis nephew and he has a rough family. The last time someone snitched on immigrants, a boy named Vinny, they grabbed him in the kitchen and pulled him down the stairs three flights his head was bouncin like a coconut. And they spit on him in the street, his own father and brothers. Now that Eddie has informed immigration about Marco and Rodolfo he thinks that will happen to him, so hes nervous people will find out it was him who informed immigration. Immigration come and search downstairs and upstairs. They find all four of the immigrants upstairs and bring them down. Marco starts shouting at Eddie, That one! I accuse that one! He killed my children! The one that stole the food from my children! the whole neighbourhood is watching and listening, and then everyone turns away and leaves Eddie. The only one left is Beatrice. Marco and Rodolfo can be put on bail until their court hearing, but Marco has to promise he wont hurt Eddie. Rodolfo will be fine, because he is going to marry Catherine, but Marco will definitely be deported. Marco promises and they both go. Eddie is at home and Beatrice is with him getting ready for Catherines wedding. Eddie refuses to let her go, he says that if she goes, shes not allowed back. Catherine turns and starts shouting at Eddie, Hes a rat! He belongs in the sewer! Rodolfo comes in to warn Eddie about Marco, saying hes praying in the church, and then hes coming for Eddie. Eddie refuses to go away, he stays, waiting in the house. Eddie goes to meet Marco outside and produces a knife. He threatens Marco and tells him to apologise or hell kill him. Marco shouts at Eddie, Anima-a-a-l! Eddie lunges at Marco with the knife, but Marco takes the blade and turns it on Eddie, pushing it into Eddie. Eddie falls to the floor as Marco looks down on him. It is like the ending of act one in that Marco is standing above Eddie, with a weapon, and Eddie has lost. It was inevitable that he would die because he never knew when to stop. However I dont think Eddie deserved to die, he was only doing what he thought was correct, he wanted Catherine, and got jealous that someone else could have her, he never meant to hurt anyone, he just wanted to have Catherine to himself and Rodolfo and Marco to go away. Now there is tension between Beatrice and Marco, and Catherine and Marco, but they are not annoyed, because they knew there was nothing else he could have done.

15% Tax Across The Board Essay -- essays research papers

15% Tax Across the Board Money, I bet I have your attention now? Hard working Americans are consistently held down due to taxes. There are many unnecessary taxes that are taken from each individual every single year. The 15% sales tax concept eliminates the frustration and confusion of the different kinds of taxes, and creates more money for the federal government. This concept has been overlooked year after year since its conception. This is a 15% sales tax; a tax that takes 15% of all goods sold and gives it to our government. Be aware of the fact that it is now 7.75%; a lot of you may say, "7.75% is way too much already". The answer to that question is no, no it is not. That 15% sales tax goes directly to the federal government eliminating all income tax in ones paycheck. Imagine seeing your paycheck without taxes taken out of it. It seems almost unimaginable to me; now we can imagine it. What does every employee constantly complain about every single paid day? What is one of the main topics that the presidential candidates stressed while campaigning? How come people like drug dealers get a big advantage in this world when it comes to pay taxes? And again, what consistently holds down the hard working American? I have found a way to answer all those questions? This concept has actually found a way to tax everybody, not just the working ones. This concept also makes it fair and economical to our federal government, not just the individual taxpayer. Under the implementation of this concept an individual could receive a paycheck and have virtually no taxes taken from it. This 15% sales tax eliminates confusion, taxes everybody, and organizes the government in a way that has never been done. Eliminating the confusion of distributing all of the taxes throughout the country would be in our government's vital interest. Every two weeks I will go through the exact same ritual, I will receive my paycheck and furiously tare it open to see how much money I will be able to lose in the next two weeks. I'm always blessed with a beautiful number at the top that is very fair and deserving for the hard work that I do on the weekly basis. Then I always see a whole bunch of abbreviations, different dollar amounts, then the number at the bottom that always seems to depr... ...s many government jobs. These jobs will be eliminated because there won't be so many different branches to our government. We will now only need a select few to watch over the money, rather than having the whole chain of command for each and every department. Organization and efficiency in our government is key, and the less there is to worry about the better. While this concept is a good one, it's not absolutely flawless. There are many wrinkles that indeed need to be ironed out. However, is a good starting block and something that could potentially change the country and how it operates? Whether this plan should actually be utilized or not, is not the question. The question is, what is involved with it, and how does a benefit our country? While I have talked about social security, it is not quite know exactly how that would be funded. Big businesses are another concern in this concept. How will big businesses be taxed under the implementation of this plan? The main objective to this plan still stands tall; it eliminates confusion, taxes everybody, and creates an organized government that we could all be proud of.

Who Am I

Australia, whose name is Bianca. I am currently 1 6 years of age. I have very strong opinions on many things and I like to debate people on what I believe is right. Sometimes that gets me into a lot of trouble but I stick to what I believe in the end. What defines me is my sense of knowing do belong. I am who I am, I am unique and different and I now that, that is okay, because everyone is unique and different too.I see myself as a bubbly person, who tends to keep her deeper thought and feelings to herself. Sometimes I'm insecure, sometimes I let little things hurt me, sometimes worry about petty little issues that won't matter in the next 10 years but that is just who I am now. Many life experiences have defined the person who I am today, and for that I am grateful.Although not all of hose experiences have been good, they have all been a learning experience for me and have helped shape the person I have become today. I wouldn't change anything I have experienced because I would be a different person. I wouldn't be as strong, as open to new things, wouldn't be as spontaneous, and I just wouldn't be me. Everything little thing every little stepping stone, every little bump has made me the person I am today and I am so proud of that. Who Am I Elegy/Repetition Who Am I Jennifer Leaf Who am I Don't know what to think Living every day Like It's the first 5 How could it get any worse About life They told me to Just Hold on tight 10 Lost and out of control Don't know who or where to turn Will they Just watch me burn 15 to afraid to fall Or am I afraid to loose it all Deniable, completely insane Will I ever find my way Will ever be the same Falling Down the drain Will I ever be someone 26 Or will I Just go out and run Day in And day out Don't know where to go 30 Every day Every night Trying to see the light All I know isWho I could be 35 It's all like a dream to 20 I want to scream and shout Don't know why I'm yelling out Who am 1 40 And I want to scream and shout There is no doubt about it Because I don't Know anymore 45 Too afraid to find life Through the darkness That I fight 50 Will I ever see the light Don't know where to turn to Don't know where to go I did, but now 55 I Just don't know to afraid to back down Vive been fi ghting all my life But now it's time to say goodbye but I will try to find my own light I will try to shine 60 â€Å"Who Am l† is an intensified poem about the question we all ask ourselves everyday our whole lives.Everyone does one of two things, accept the fact that they simply do not know or, pretend that they do. Life is full of questions that we cannot completely answer, Just ponder our entire lives. Within this poem, the phrase, who am l, is constantly repeated. This poem is an elegy, mourning the lost life and the answer to the question asked throughout the poem. The phrase reoccurring in the poem emphasizes the question everyone asks themselves and the question most think they know the answer to. No one can entirely know who they are and what the future might bring. As a result of really not knowing, they pretend they do. â€Å"Don't know who I am/ I did, but now/ I Just don't know (49-51). Or, if they do not pretend they know who they are, they try to be someone else because there life is not written in stone. For some, they might go absolutely insane trying to find the truth behind the unanswerable question. Who am I There is no doubt about it (35-38). The repetition gives the poem an intense look on life and shows signs of confusion, frustration, and anger. The passion in increased in every stanza due to the fact that he speaker keeps on repeating those three words. This allows the reader to imagine that the person in trapped in her own mind, that is about to explode, with no way out. With this repetition, the reader can see the pain in the speaker's words and how made her give up on everything else and is slowly eating her inside and killing her. She has one last attempt at trying to save herself by saying she can shine no matter what, but those three words enforce a tragic ending to her dark story. The elegy aspect of this poem is the loss of herself. The speaker Just gave up on life ND on herself and pities herself because she does not know who she is.The speaker does not realize that no one does and she will never know. Who am I Vive been fighting all my life But now it's time to say goodbye (57-60). The speaker has given up on life because she cannot face the world as an outcast anymore. She need something to be proud of, something to believe in, something to fight for. She does not have the will to keep going like a shadow lurking through the night. Due to the fact that the three words, who am I is slowly annihilating her, the elegy is mainly found in the repetition. She cannot escape from this tragic death and by the last two lines, you know she can no longer fight it and her death is mourned. Her pride and dignity are lost every time those three words are said and that is additionally mourned. Here lies the pride, dignity, and life of the speaker of the poem, she will be missed. I wrote this poem because self-influence and the influence of others is one of the most powerful things. The words in the poem show how b y wasting your life trying to answer and unanswerable question, you are leading ourselves into a trap that you cannot escape. These words can consume anyone and you can lead yourself to your own fatal end. By convincing yourself you have nothing to live for, you are blinding yourself from the truth behind the ever-so convincing lie. This poem is meant to have people believe in themselves and their capabilities and instead of trying to answer who you are as a person, embrace the mystery and be the best person you can be. â€Å"Who Am l† tells the world to fight for what you believe in, because there is always something to believe in.
